I made a new YouTube clip where I’m talking about submitting your designs to publications and dealing with the inevitable letters of rejection. I wanted to open this discussion because I think it’s important to be honest about my struggles as an aspiring knitwear designer. Usually we only show the good stuff, the successes and the designs that were selected. Yes, I have had my designs published in major knitting publications. And yes, I have also faced rejection. But the rejection part is a taboo that no one talks about. I’m trying to change that by showing you a couple of designs that I have submitted but that weren’t selected.
I hope you also enjoy my YouTube video on this subject. I feel a bit raw about posting it online and opening myself up for discussion and critique, as none of us likes to tell we have failed at something. I do hope though that you will also find this subject important and something we should be able to talk about more openly.
